Micro-needling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response and stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. Microneedling can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores, improve acne and/or surgical scars, and improve the skin’s texture, tone, and pigmentation.

Before your micro-needling treatment begins I will cleanse and numb your skin using Zensa 5% Lidocaine cream. This cream begins to work within 20-30 minutes and stays numb throughout the entire treatment. There is very little to NO discomfort during your micro-needling treatment.

No, there is very little blood. It is normal to have some minor pinpoint bleeding in areas where the micro-needling device goes a bit deeper, but overall there is very little bleeding. Don't let the images on social media scare you off.

Following your micro-needling treatment your face will look quite red or pink. I compare it to the look of a sunburn. This colour can last approximately 48 hours depending on your skin's sensitivity to the treatment. I do not consider it bad enough to have to hide out at home, but if you don't want people asking if you have spent some time in the sun then you may feel best staying at home for the first 24 hours. Your skin will feel warm, and a bit tight after the treatment. This can be alleviated with Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum which I recommend you purchase with your treatment.

Although results can be seen after just one treatment, it is usually recommended to do micro-needling treatments in a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. If we are treating scarring or pigmentation then more treatments may be required to achieve the desired results. After you have completed your initial series of treatments then you can continue with maintenance treatments once or twice a year. The nice thing about micro-needling is that the benefits of the boosted collagen and elastin continue for months after the treatment.

Skin Envy is proud to be using the Eclipse Micropen Evo. This micro-needling device is one of the best on the market, and one of the few devices that has been fully approved by Health Canada.
