Dermaplaning is a popular facial treatment that utilizes a surgical blade for skin exfoliation, effectively removing dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz, from the face.
Dermaplaning is a gentle skin exfoliation treatment that is designed to be pain-free. During this facial treatment, a blade is carefully passed over dry skin, and the only sensation most clients experience is mild sensitivity in the treated area.
After the dermaplaning step of the treatment, I will use a high-frequency wand to eliminate any residual bacteria on your skin. Following this, I will customize a facial mask tailored to your skin’s needs, enhancing your skin exfoliation process.
- Avoid the use of saunas or steam rooms and refrain from any strenuous exercise that causes sweating for 24 hours after your dermaplaning treatment.
- For 24 hours, steer clear of any facial products that contain exfoliating ingredients to prevent further irritation to your skin.
- Please do not apply any makeup for 24 hours.
- Avoid booking any other facial treatments for at least one week following your dermaplaning session.
- For two weeks post-treatment, adopt a very simple skincare routine. Gently cleanse your skin using lukewarm water and a very mild cleanser.
- Be sure to apply moisturizer twice a day to keep your skin hydrated.
- When drying your skin, do not rub it vigorously; instead, gently pat it dry.
- Avoid harsh cleaning products in your skincare regimen.
- Skip the washcloth; use just your clean fingers to cleanse your face.
- Because your skin's natural barrier is compromised, expect increased sensitivity. Stay out of direct sunlight for two weeks after your treatment, and once this period has passed, use a high SPF sunscreen (SPF 30+) to shield your delicate facial skin.
- Keep your skin away from chlorine, such as pools and hot tubs, to prevent irritation.
- Avoid scratching the treatment area.
- After the procedure, apply skin serums, especially those containing hyaluronic acid, to nurture your skin.
- A tingling sensation may accompany your skin for a few days; this is a normal reaction to the dermaplaning procedure.
